Can Your Mindset Outwork Your Marketing Or Vice Versa??

“Oh! I know! I’ll make YouTube videos every single day for 100 days to pull in that coveted search positioning. I’ll go Live every day on Facebook. I’ll make 3 TikToks a day. This is going to be GREAT!”

Then…

You do the doing…with little to no results to speak of.

Enter Cool Ranch Doritos and Season 4 of Selling Sunsets, and exit hours/days/weeks of your life.

Your mind was not prepared for that killer strategy. You only HALF believed what you were saying.

So did everyone else because of that. And no one was convinced enough to invest.

Get Your Mind & Heart On Board

When your heart and mind are in alignment with your mission - when you actually believe that you are THE one for the work that you’re proposing, the words you say carry an energy that is palpable for all.

They become magic for those who need you.

Your magnetism is amplified.
Your passion is contagious.
Your people can’t help but want more.

The Missing Ingredient

The problem is there are way too many business owners out there, half-assing their marketing by only half-believing in themselves and their abilities.

You can…NO…you MUST cultivate the belief in yourself that you know you have the ability to get the results you know you can bring.

You have to stand in front of your audience and say, “You want results? You need me.”

YOU are the missing ingredient in any successful marketing plan.

How to Cultivate the Mindset of Self-Trust

When you trust yourself enough to know that YOUR program is the one they need, everything changes when it comes to your marketing. So how do you develop that mindset of self-trust that just KNOWS you are acting in integrity?

  1. Own the realness of what you’ve done.
You’ve created a life for yourself, maybe it’s not (yet!) the one you think you want, BUT you were powerful enough to create what you have! Own that and feel the power of being a creator of any reality.
And know that means you have the power to create the path to change and freedom for your clients, too… that you are THE ONE.

  2. Have a 1:1 session with yourself.
What would you say to a client who came to you with the same struggle you’re having? Be your client.
Coach yourself to your own greatness and belief in that greatness.
Having the clarity you need to make those kinds of decisions will make the action-taking much easier.

  3. Decide.
Once you’ve had that heart to heart with Self, decide. Literally decide you believe in your own strengths and heart… and your ability to create happiness for people.

You see, a killer strategy without the mindset that you are THE IT they were looking for is useless. Likewise, the mindset without the killer strategy is useless.

Get Your Mind Right, Make the Marketing Tight

If you’re constantly battling your mind, you’ll constantly be fighting for results. So, let’s get that mind right so you can keep your marketing tight.

Because it’s in KNOWING what we want that we’re able to bolster our minds, our hearts, and our conviction that we’re doing THE right things for our goals… and our energy will show it.

Your mind is key.

And it MUST power your marketing.

Confidence: 4 Ways to Develop the Confidence you need to Achieve Greater Success

The blood, sweat, and tears you have poured into your business may, indeed, mean that you have THE BEST business or service or offer in the world. It may mean that you’ve created THE thing that is going to change lives forever.

But those weeks, months, years you’ve spent doing it, won’t mean squat if you don’t have confidence in it (and in yourself!).

When we lack confidence in our product or service, it’s palpable, even if you DO promote. Think about that.

You can post all over Facebook, TikTok, Insta, LinkedIn, groups, etc, all day long. But if you doubt yourself or your ability to get results, all those posts will be for nothing, because your iffy-ness is transmitted to the reader in the words and images that you choose, and the energy it gives off.

Therefore, the key to success lies in the voice of someone who is confident. It is a voice that is powerful and strong. It can’t (and won’t!) be silenced.

So how can YOU develop the confidence that won’t and can’t be shaken...the confidence that others can literally FEEL so they want to buy your goods??

DO MORE.

More experience will always breed more confidence. You may tell me great, but how if no one will buy from me/work with me, Katelyn?? Find ways to get that experience!

Create  a set of case studies - seeing your own timeline at work and the path you took to get results will help solidify your process and your confidence.

Set up trades - work with colleagues to swap time and results.

Offer beta runs - participants in the beta do so with the agreement that they will leave honest feedback and/or a review you can use in future marketing.

Do pro-bono work for anyone you can (in the beginning) because, the more you do, the more you learn, the more you deepen your connection, confidence, and conviction to your work.

GET YOUR MIND RIGHT.

This can be done a few different ways, but I believe in the power of personal development books. All it takes is 10 mins a day. Determine a mindset block you have: i.e. My clients won’t pay this price for my service, and then let that guide you for what type of book, or content you should consume. My recommendation for this would be Jen Sincero’s book You are a Badass at Making Money, or Amanda Frances book Rich as a Fuck.

You can also:

Listen to podcasts.

Get coached (1:1 or a group mastermind)

Journal!!!! <<<---I love this one!
Repeat the right affirmations (reframe your mindset blocks!)

Pay attention to the things you do RIGHT. Learn from what you get wrong. And let that foundation elevate your level of confidence, naturally.

THE POWER OF OBSERVATION.

Use those who you look up to and admire as a guide...use it as proof that they did this, you can, too.

Observe your own past successes and use those as proof (as your truth!) that this next level is possible for you.

SO often, we look at our failures and judge ourselves on those vs. looking at our success to help push us to the next level.

Say you launched a course and “only” had 5 people buy. Don’t focus on the number, and remove the word ONLY from your vocabulary! Focus on the fact you had 5 people buy your damn course and that you provided that value to those people because it's the best damn thing in the world.

(Bonus affirmation to journal: “I sell the best damn course/service/thing in the world and the proof is people have bought it!”) <<--It’s true and your mind knows it and will anchor into it!

EAT THE ELEPHANT.

Positive energy and momentum are real and they compound over time.

So set small, SMART goals that lead up to your big goal you want to achieve (these are goals that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time based). Those tiny wins will serve up the boosts of confidence you need to keep pushing you toward that big goal. The end result: you show up with more confidence after each win!

You may have put everything you have in your product/service/business. But you MUST - at all costs - believe in it and yourself with everything you have. I get it, imposter syndrome is REAL, but working on your confidence will truly be the secret to your success.  Others will feel that pull of your charisma and conviction, that others will feel safe putting their money in on what you’ve created.

What it Truly Takes to Start, and Grow, a Successful Online Business

Starting an online business can feel overwhelming, but with the right tools in your toolbox, it doesn’t have to be. I remember when I first started my business, I really didn’t know where to start. The biggest things that helped me early on were finding an online community of women I could learn from and ask questions, diving into the free training’s top coaches provided, and ultimately hiring a business mentor to guide my step-by-step with what I needed to do to grow my business.

That being said, you can do all the free training you want, and get the support you need, but there are also a few things outside of what training can teach you that will determine the longevity of your success.

Grit

Running your own business is hard work. You will have really great days, and really shitty days - sometimes, if you’re really lucky, that roller coaster of emotions can happen in the same day. But if you let those really hard days get to you, you’ll throw in the towel REAL QUICK! Owning a business isn’t for the faint of heart. You have to have GRIT to keep moving on those hard days. You have to have the courage and strength to face the hard moments and work through them to GROW and come out the other side stronger. You have to look adversity in the eyes and challenge it. You CAN overcome it and those hard days will make you stronger and your business will grow because of them.

Determination

Just like grit, determination and perseverance are key to success. You have to be flexible about your methods but determined to get to the outcome. When you set goals, you have to have unwavering faith that you will reach them and the determination to do whatever it takes to reach that goal.

Ability to pivot

You have to be able to PIVOT in business (sidenote: anyone else immediately think of the episode of Friends where Ross is moving the couch up the stairs as soon as you hear the word PIVOT? No, just me, cool). What was once working, may stop working at one point or another. Or, the year could be 2020 and COVID happens, then what? You have to be willing to adapt to the times and listen to the wants and needs of your target audience to be successful for the long-term. Blockbuster DIED because they didn’t PIVOT when things went to streaming. Be open and creative to new strategies as things change.

Positive Mindset

If I had to argue one of these four being more important than the others, it would be this one. A positive mindset is critical if you want to be successful in ANYTHING that you do. Guess what? Life sucks sometimes. And it’s how you choose to look at and approach the obstacles in front of you, whatever they may be big or small, that matters most. If you say to yourself “ugh no one has signed up for my freebie, it’s probably not even good, I’m not going to ever get a client” then guess what? YOU WON’T! You have to approach things with a “this is happening for me, not to me” attitude and you’ll always find a solution to the problem at hand.

If you have those 4 things mentioned above, you will find yourself with the winning framework to handle anything that comes your way in business. Because let me tell you, it’s a roller coaster of a ride, but also TOTALLY worth it! If you’re looking for more 1:1 support, I am filling ONE more 3-month coaching spot before I close up for the rest of the year. This is the LAST chance to get in at my current pricing before it increases Jan 1 and I move to only filling 6-month spots. Click here to book a discovery call.

Why the Compound Effect Matters in your Business

Personal development books have changed my entire life. I thought they were a load of crap. I was initially embarrassed to read “self help” books, but I did it anyway. You see I started reading these when I was 24 years old and I had just started Beachbody coaching. Personal development was one of their vital behaviors, so I did it because you were supposed to, not because I actually thought it would work.

The first book I read was You are a Badass by Jen Sincero. It took me a while to read, but once I read it, I found myself looking for my next read. I never had some huge epiphany, but slowly, over time, my perspective on life, changed. How I thought about and handled situations went from defense and jealous to more understanding and rational. The little stuff I learned to let go of. I decided life was happening FOR me, not TO me. I realized I was holding myself back.

One of those books, really changed HOW I approach my day and what actions I take in life and more specifically, my business. The Compound Effect, by Darren Hardy, focuses on taking small, seemingly insignificant actions that will create huge rewards. You are to take 100 percent responsibility for everything that happens to you. Small choices + consistency + time = significant results.

Let’s take a look at some of the key principles from the book and how this can impact, positively or negatively, your business.

Consistency is the ultimate key to success.

I believe this to be true with my whole heart. Being consistent builds trust. It creates habits (these can be both positive or negative). My favorite example of this is related to your health and fitness. If you consistently eat healthy and workout 3-5x a week, you’re likely going to gain muscle and/or lose weight depending on your goals. But if you only eat 1 healthy meal a day, and workout 1 day a week, you likely won’t reach your goals (or at least not very quickly). Success comes with those consistent actions in everything you do.

The first step toward change is awareness. The best way to become aware is to measure. Writing it all down is key.

Are you aware of how much time you spend on your business building activities, and how much time you waste on other things? A lot of times we don’t realize where all of our time is going until we track it. Take a couple days and write down every single thing you do. I’ll be the first to admit - it was kind of embarrassing how much time I was wasting on social media and walking to the kitchen each day (lol).

Also, are you aware of how much time you have available in your business to add more clients? For me, most of my clients are hourly. I add up how much each client is contracted for and subtract that from the ideal number of hours I want to work each month (don’t forget to factor in your own business work hours too). That lets me know when and how many new clients I can take on.

Your life is a result of your moment to moment choices.

Read that again. MOMENT TO MOMENT. One MOMENT can change it all. Wow. This one stuck with me. Since I’m an optimist, I believe that you have the power to change your life in one single moment. Make a decision to change it then take action. Think about the choices you make in the moment each day and then think of the trajectory of your life if those choices were consistent. Each the banana or each the pizza. Watch another episode of Grey’s Anatomy, or write the dang blog post. Play with your cute adorable new puppy, or…. No you always play with the puppy. So what is the next choice you’re going to make and is that small, seemingly insignificant action going to benefit you in the future?

Small choices + consistency + time = significant results.

Do you remember the old childhood story about the tortoise and the hare? The point of that story was “slow and steady wins the race” right? That’s kind of how I view Hardy’s point about small choices + consistency + time = significant results. You take the small daily action that gets you one step closer to your goal - even if it feels like you’re not where the others are, or even if it doesn’t feel like it’s doing any good at the time. Then over time you’ll find it will yield significant results. I like to call this the “long game”. Our society is so focused on quick wins and quick results that we often forget about the “long game” approach that is so needed for long-term success. Think about the one small action you could be doing daily that will help you get to your end goal.

You need a deep why for doing stuff. With a why that is meaningful enough, you will do almost anything.

You probably hear this all the time “what’s your why?” or “dig deep” to find your true why/passion. But the real question is what is going to keep you going when the going gets tough? Your “why” is just your reason(s) for starting your business, why you aren’t working for someone else and just staying content. I know your dream is bigger than that. But WHY? Is it because you’re tired of the corporate politics? Is it because you NEED the extra income for your family? Maybe this job is the only thing that your family has right now and it HAS to work. Maybe you’ve experienced something in your life that was not okay, so your mission is to create change for those behind you. Whatever it is, think about what keeps you going each day. It has to be deeper than surface level so you don’t give up.

Identify your triggers for your bad habits: the who, what, where, and when that prompts you to start your bad habits. Then eliminate the triggers.

Bad habits can be hard to break - but if we’re being honest, we all have them. Nobody’s perfect. But we can either just accept that we have that bad habit, or we can acknowledge it and work on changing it. Figuring out the trigger for your habits can be hard - it takes total AWARENESS, but once you notice you’re doing it think of how you started, where you were, how you were feeling and ask yourself question after question until you get to the root of the habit and need for doing it. Journal on it. Then, once you identify the trigger(s) pick something else to do when that trigger happens. You’ll have to reprogram your brain to elicit a different response from the initial trigger. Deep breathing is a great thing to start with, or moving your body to music, going on a short walk or calling a friend. Once you change your reaction to the trigger the habit will start to change as well.

Do you feel ready to multiply your success? All it takes is a little bit of action - consistently to change your business and your life. If you want to purchase the book, you can do so here on Amazon.
